Training Services :

  • Training manuals includes detailed step by step instructions with screenshots for each step. This allows the students to build reports, trends, etc. without the need for external assistance or trying to remember each step. This is invaluable when they need create a report at 2:00 AM when the plant goes down!
  •  Hands-on lab exercises provides a base set of reports that can be used at your facility within minutes.
  • Instructors have hands-on industry specific backgrounds for the process they are teaching to include mining, electrical G/T/D, airports, water/wastewater, bio-pharm, etc. So when a student asks a question the instructor will provide a meaningful answer!     
  • Class sizes are limited to provide adequate time for the instructor to work with each student to complete the course materials.

OSIsoft PI Operations & Maintenance O&M-101: This course teaches O&M personnel how to use PI from the plant floor perspective. This course provides the students with the tools needed to be able to view their data quickly in numerous ways. This is designed for students with minimal to no PI knowledge. O&M-101 is a culmination of ProcessBook-101, DataLink-101, and Reports-101, providing the students a combination of skill sets quickly and easily. This is the most requested course we offer. Hands on exercises include:

  • Using PI ProcessBook to build trends and display data
  • Using the PI Excel DataLink within Excel workbooks
  • Maintenance troubleshooting using PI
  • Build a Daily Shift Report
  • Build a Weekly Production Report
  • Build a Analog Comparison Troubleshooting Report
  • Build a Pump Runtime Report
  • Building a completely animated ProcessBook graphic screen
  • Course length: 1 day, maximum of 12 students per class
  • Prerequisites: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel


OSIsoft PI ProcessBook PB-101: This course teaches how to use PI ProcessBook for designing/building graphical screens to display your data. This is a very simple class designed for students with minimal to no PI knowledge. Hands on exercises include:

  • Using PI ProcessBook to build historical ad-hoc trends
  • Applying advanced trend functionality
  • Using PI tools to analyze the trend data
  • Build a completely animated process graphic
  • Using the symbol library for consistency
  • Introduction to PI tags and tag search functionality
  • Course length: 4 hours, maximum of 15 students per class
  • Prerequisites: None


OSIsoft PI DataLink DL-101: This course teaches how to use the PI Excel DataLink add-in for designing/building Excel workbooks to display your data. This is a very simple class designed for students with minimal to no PI knowledge. Hands on exercises include:

  • Using DataLink to build historical ad-hoc trends
  • Working with single and multiple values
  • Working with calculated and compressed data
  • Build a completely animated Excel trend
  • Introduction to PI tags and tag search functionality
  • Course length: 4 hours, maximum of 15 students per class
  • Prerequisites: Basic Excel skills


OSIsoft PI Reports REP-101: This course teaches how to use the PI Excel DataLink add-in for designing/building fully functional reports. Hands on exercises include:

  • Working with single and multiple values
  • Working with calculated and compressed data
  • Using the PI Excel DataLink within Excel workbooks
  • Maintenance troubleshooting using PI
  • Build a Daily Shift Report
  • Build a Weekly Production Report
  • Build a Analog Comparison Troubleshooting Report
  • Build a Pump Runtime Report
  • Introduction to PI tags and tag search functionality
  • Course length: 6 hours, maximum of 12 students per class
  • Prerequisites: DL-101 completed or equivalent experience


OSIsoft PI Advanced Reports REP-201: This course teaches how to design/build reports using advanced tools and techniques including ActiveX controls and Visual Basic. Hands on exercises include:

  • Working with Excel's conditional formatting
  • Working with ActiveX and form controls
  • Excel tips and tricks
  • Build a PID Loop Analysis Report for KPI, OEE, and troubleshooting
  • Build a Digital State Report
  • Build a SQC Report
  • Automatic report generation/printing using Microsoft's sheduler
  • Automatic array resizing using VBA
  • Course length: 8 hours, maximum of 12 students per class
  • Prerequisites: O&M-101 or REP-101 completed


OSIsoft PI System Administrator 1: This course teaches all of the basic requirements needed for becoming a PI Administrator. We provide in-depth training for all of the tools available to properly maintain and expand your PI system. Hands on exercises include:

  • Disaster Recovery - Students will load and configure a PI server and client including configuring PI Trusts.
  • Understanding and designing the PI architecture
  • PI AF Server/Client
  • PI Security using Microsoft Active Directory Services
  • System configuration and performance tuning
  • Creating and working with tags/points
  • Archive backup and restoration
  • Using ProcessBook and Excel DataLink to view data
  • Troubleshooting the PI system
  • Course length: 5 days, maximum of 8 students per class
  • Prerequisites: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, basic computer skills
